OUR MISSION

Hello,

My name is Janette Marvin and I am by profession a muralist and painter. I recently felt called to start the non-profit organization Dental Share Network to assist those residents of Clinton and Laurens County with essential dental care. My husband Joe and I started searching online for a similar organization by which to fashion ours but soon realized that there were only a few across the country. I was soon being contacted by the local medical facilities asking for my help with critical patients they could not assist without first receiving needed dental work. Several of the requests were made of the behalf of individuals with life threatening issues. We soon realized that the situation was much more critical than first imagined. I will soon be bringing my website online for the Dental Share but have been processing critical patients already with what funds were immediately available. I have been able to use any amounts often combining to allow another of our residents the opportunity for treatment.

Our mission is to organize and help fund dental care for the under-served adults in Laurens County. We are a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit created to help bring dignity through care. Each month we will either go to the free clinics to receive care; the Denture Clinic; or our local volunteer dentist to receive care. We work together to raise the funds for members of our county in need. Those in need will also take part in the fundraising process if physically able.

100% of donations go to the dental clinic. All other needs for running DSN are funded separately.

Who Qualifies? The following chart shows the income to qualify: Number of people in the household on top, annual income is below:

There are approximately 6,000 people in Laurens County waiting for dental care. The average cost per person for basic care will be about $250; a full set of dentures is $685; Partials are each $465; upper or lower denture $465 each. The cost of extracting one tooth if the patient doesn’t have Medicaid is $150 including x-ray. Medicaid patients with dental riders are allowed up to 8 extractions free at the clinic we go to if they still have funds remaining in their account. For those without medicaid and fall within the income range, Dental Share will try to cover the cost. Individuals that are able to financially help with the cost of their care are encouraged to do so. If you have “fallen between the cracks” and don’t qualify, but need help, let me know and we will work with you on matching funds. We need volunteer leaders!
